Who is Dr. Z?
Eugene R. Zampieron is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and is licensed by the board of Naturopathic Medical Examiners in CT as a Naturopathic physician. He practices in Woodbury with an emphasis in environmental medicine and detoxification therapy using hydrotherapy, nature cure, homeopathy, and botanical medicine.
He also is an authority on the successful management of acute and chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, arthritis, fibromyalgia and other inflammatory disease with Naturopathic & “Global “(Natural Medicine & Healing Systems worldwide) therapeutics. He also treats a wide array of women’s health disorders.
He received his B.S. in Biological & Marine Sciences from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Long Island, minoring in Science & Technology. He began to pursue masters level course work in marine invertebrate zoology, with field research in Jamaica, WI, when illness changed his life….
While studying in Jamaica and becoming ill, Dr. Zampieron was healed by a Jamaican “Bush” Doctor/Traditional Herbalist/Shaman.
Now fascinated by herbal and folk healing, the ethnobotany of the Caribbean, and medical anthropology, Dr. Zampieron pursued his new passion & switched careers. He attended Bastyr University of Natural Health Sciences in Seattle, WA, a residential Naturopathic medical program. After 4 years of medical schooling and internship, he received his Doctorate Degree in Naturopathic Medicine with honors. Naturopathic doctors are the only primary care physicians in the healing arts that study the scientific aspects of herbal medicine, like the fields of medical botany, and clinical phytotherapy.
Dr. Zampieron spent the next 20 years researching and documenting the ethnobotany, spirituality, and healing plant traditions of a Maroon medicine man and shaman named JAMBA in the tropical forests and bush of Jamaica, WI. Fascinated by ethnobotany and medical anthropology, Dr. Zampieron travels to the rainforests frequently and apprentices with herbalists and shaman, searching for novel remedies and promising crude drugs from the folk medicine of this culture. He is currently authoring a book based on his research entitled “Field Guide & picture book of the Medicinal Herbs & Spices of the Maroon & Rastafarian People of Jamaica, WI” which will be completed in 2004.
His present clinic, The Naturopathic Medical Center of Woodbury, has full facilities in spa, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, massage, botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, traditional Chinese healing & acupuncture.

Dr Eugene R. Zampieron, N.D., AHG
Dr. Zampieron is a Medical Herbalist and Professional Member of the American Herbalist Guild. He is an expert in the biochemistry & pharmacology of plant based medicine from around the globe, as well as clinical phytotherapeutics. Dr. Zampieron with Dr. Ellen Kamhi currently leads exciting natural medicine walking tours through Chinatown, NYC, Little India, NYC, and teaches seminars on edible weeds, medicinal plant identification and wildcrafting the herbs of the Northeast. He teaches botanical medicine seminars and has taught seminars on Medical Botany at the prestigious New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, NY.
Dr. Zampieron, or Dr. Z , as he is known by his listeners, has co-hosted/ produced several nationally syndicated talk radio programs on health and alternative medicine, including The Natural Medicine Chest TM & Natural Alternatives Health Radio Network. He also produces and is a regular guest on several local TV & radio programs throughout Long Island & Connecticut, including Natural Alternatives and The Natural House Call.
Dr. Zampieron is a professional speaker and writer, and has several national syndicated columns and peer-reviewed articles in medical journals. He teaches with an encyclopedic knowledge of natural medicine.
